Injectables
Cosmetic Injections and Fillers in Pasadena, CA

Injectables can help address signs of aging, by restoring lost volume, filling in deep lines, and helping to soften muscle movements that cause wrinkles. Whether it’s neuromodulators like Botox, hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm, or any of the other numerous products on the market, these injectables can provide a more youthful appearance for months without requiring invasive surgery. Each type of injectable is designed to address specific areas of the face, and board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Nima Naghshineh can help determine which one is best for your cosmetic goals.

Botox is well known for its ability to soften and smooth the appearance of wrinkles on the face. Using a purified form of botulinum toxin, Botox can smooth lines and wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements such as frowning, squinting or smiling. Botox is used to improve horizontal wrinkles on the forehead (forehead lines), crow’s feet on the outer corners of the eyes and the vertical lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).

Dysport uses the same toxin as Botox but incorporates a different protein, allowing the Dysport gel to spread and diffuse more easily in the treated area. This neuromodulator also treats moderate to severe glabellar lines, aka “11s.”

Botox and Dysport offer results that last around four months and require repeated treatments to maintain results.

Sculptra is a long-lasting dermal filler that uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and works differently from neuromodulators and other fillers. This injectable works over time to restore collagen gradually, as the PLLA creates a framework in the treated area for the body to fill in with new collagen. Sculptra works best for smile lines (nasolabial folds), chin wrinkles and marionette lines, and results can last up to two years or longer.

Dr. Nima offers both the Juvéderm and Restylane family of dermal fillers. These injectables use hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that provides the supple appearance associated with youthful skin, which the body produces less of as we age. These injectables can be used to fill in hollow areas, as well as help to restore or augment the skeletal structures of the face like the cheekbones, jawline and chin.

Radiesse uses calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) for immediate facial contouring and stimulation of new collagen and elastin fibers. The CaHA microspheres provide the building blocks for your body to fill the treated area with new tissues. Radiesse works best for the lower face, jawline and hands, including smile lines, marionette lines and pre-jowl folds. Some results are visible right after Radiesse treatment and continue to improve for four to six weeks as the body fills in the area with new collagen. Radiesse lasts about 15 months.

Renuva® is an off-the-shelf alternative to surgical fat transfer. It is used to restore volume in the face, hands and body in a short, in-office treatment. Renuva® contains collagens, proteins, and growth factors that restore volume and rejuvenate the surrounding tissue. It is a great treatment for those looking to fix aging skin, minor skin defects, scarring and fine lines and wrinkles. Because Renuva® Adipose Matrix does NOT require liposuction, it is a great procedure for patients with low body fat. You will notice immediate improvement in contour and volume with continuing changes over the next several weeks.
